Workers at Bishkek trauma and orthopedic surgery center protest against turning emergency health services into a hospital
AKIPRESS.COM – More than 70 workers from the Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery Research Center in Bishkek gathered today to protest against the Health Ministry’s decision to turn the Center into an emergency health services hospital.
“All the latest technologies used in the world are applied in this center. This transformation is not a reform, it is a step backwards,” said Janysh Sulaimanov, deputy director of the Trauma and Surgery Research Center Bishkek orthopedic.
He said that in case the director of their center is fired, the workers are ready “for drastic measures”.
The Ministry of Health said that the Center currently operates on the basis of the trilateral agreement of the founders – the office of the mayor of Bishkek, the local council of Bishkek and the Ministry of Health. According to the law on local state administration and the law on the status of the capital, the local council of Bishkek cannot be one of the founders of the Center for Traumatology and Orthopedic Surgery in Bishkek. The Center is financed by the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund under the supervision of the Ministry of Health.
