For 10 consecutive years, the Special Surgery Hospital has been recognized by American News and World Report as the nation’s highest ranked hospital for orthopedics.
“[Hospital for Special Surgery] HSS has been focused on advancing orthopedics for 156 years, and we are very proud of all the evidence of results from this, including this milestone recognition, ” Louis A. Shapiro, chairman and chief executive officer of HSS, said in a statement from HSS. “Most importantly, hundreds of thousands of lives have been improved and countless injuries averted, thanks to the extraordinary dedication and collaboration of physicians, scientists, engineers, innovators and SSS specialists in dozens of support functions. “
According to a press release from American News and World Report, there were approximately 165 hospitals nationally ranked in at least one specialty for the year 2019 to 2020. Overall, American News and World Report compared more than 4,500 medical centers across the country in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The publication also ranked 569 of the top regional hospitals in metropolitan areas and states based on performance of complex and common care.
