Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center wins first ASC award

Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center was recently honored as the recipient of the inaugural Best Outpatient Surgery Center (ASC) award.

The award, awarded by The Leapfrog Group, an independent national monitoring organization made up of employers and other buyers, “is selected on the basis of mastery of quality standards in several areas of CSA performance, including staffing, patient experience, hand hygiene, surgical checklist protocols, and error prevention, ”according to a Dec. 16 press release.

The 20,000 square foot Reno Orthopedic Surgery Center has five operating theaters and is the only CHW in the greater Reno-Sparks area. The surgery center is part of
Reno Orthopedic Center’s recent $ 60 million expansion projectt, which included the addition of 76,000 square feet to its existing 57,000 square foot clinic in downtown Reno at 555 N. Arlington Ave.

It was one of 13 CSAs across the country to receive the inaugural award.

“We are proud to recognize and honor the important role CHWs play in patient care with this first-ever award,” said Leah Binder, President and CEO of The Leapfrog Group, in a statement dated 30 November. “The top 13 CHWs have stood out for their commitment to the highest standards of patient care, especially in times of crisis. We commend the staff and clinicians at each of these facilities for their dedication to putting patients first. “

The data used to identify
Best CSAs is collected through a survey conducted by Leapfrog, the results of which are made public ( alongside those of hospital outpatient departments. Employers and other buyers use the data for decision making and contracting.
